"-Making Catalyst Sites Shine with Varnish"

Jay Kuri, a software developer/engineer and president of IonZero LLC, wrote an article where he walks you through a Varnish deployment.

The focus of the article is using Varnish in front of the Catalyst Web Framework, but his comments and in-depth descriptions (especially on the Varnish Configuration Language - VCL) should be relevant for anyone wanting to try Varnish.

"There are many benefits to using Varnish, and while I don't want to start a laundry list, I will cover the two that I find to be most interesting. First, it has an extremely flexible config language that makes it possible to control nearly every aspect of how web requests are processed and how your app is cached. Second, it supports ESI, or Edge Side Includes, a small XML-based markup language for dynamically assembling web content."
